Get to know me

I grew up as a feral farm kid, climbing into the hay loft, getting lost in the corn fields, and raising lambs with my sister for the fair. While I bought my first MP3 player with lamb auction money, she had bought a point and shoot camera that I would borrow from time to time.

It wasn't until college that my now husband gifted me my first camera, and I took that baby everywhere. From the quiet corners of the Upper Peninsula to the wild and remote areas of National Parks in the west. That little Canon camera (I now shoot Nikon) became my way of collecting scenes I never wanted to forget. The alpine glow, a bison grazing in a meadow, cacti underneath the desert sun. The camera let me see the world in a new light. I stopped more often and longer to watch the flowers dance in the breeze, I took the time to get crisp photos of birds for identification purposes. Eventually, photography became more than a way for me to remember, it became a way I connect, pause, and tell stories.

My experience with my own engagement photos sparked my interest with people as my subjects. Looking at those photos reminded me of the joy that I felt in that chapter of my life and I wanted to be apart of that for others.

I shoot with natural light and a gentle pace. I want you to feel at ease, fully seen, and comfortable, wherever that may be. If you’re open to laying on the ground, jumping in puddles, and making a funny face or two, I'm your girl.

When I'm not behind the lens...

I consider myself a serial hobby collector. I have 3 unfinished hand embroidery projects going on right now, I'm trying really hard to bring my string of pearls and monstera plants back from the brink of death, knitting, and working with my husband to make our house a home.

If there's snow on the ground, I'll be cross country skiing, drinking copious amounts of hot cocoa or coffee, and sitting on my butt with my cat Pimento in my lap.

If the robins are near, I'll be hiking, picking up bones and mushrooms from the forest, and feeding the corvids near my house. I am a blue jay sympathizer.
